You’ll cover special modules that focus on class structure, pedagogy and exercise design, and participate in a practicum class to develop class content and teaching techniques with founding teachers and other trainees, in addition to covering general modules about safety and working with Parkinson’s participants. We are looking for: Independently living, ambulatory men or women who are diagnosed as having idiopathic Parkinson’s disease; aged between 30 to 85 years; and who have not participated in a dance programme in the past six months. Your participation would include: Being allocated randomly to a dance group or a control group. DANCE FOR PARKINSON’S AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES FIRST ADVANCED DANCE PRACTITIONERS WORKSHOP, CANBERRA, OCTOBER 1 & 2, 2016

DPA is thrilled to announce the first ever advanced workshops, for dance teachers and health professionals, will be held in Canberra on Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 October, at Belconnen Arts Centre, 10 minutes west of the City Centre.  http://www.belconnenartscentre.com.au/  This professional development will provide critical tools, advanced strategies and information relating to Dance for Parkinson’s teaching practice. Open to practitioners who have completed the Dance for PD® Introductory Training, the workshop will integrate global best practices in developing and implementing this unique program. Specialised training, guest speakers and peer mentoring will form the basis of the weekend learning, which will also include time for practical activity, discussion, exchange and networking, as well as an optional viewing of Capturing Grace, and a social get-together.
